He had fallen asleep? Oh. He supposed it seemed to fit together. After a day of not being able to catch much, he must have fallen asleep. Maybe today would be a better day.
When the tom stirred, the pale gray color of the endless expanse of sky, with wisps of purple, pink, and orange clouds dotting it, showed that the dense labyrinth of darkness that shrouded the forest earlier that night, had gone away, revealing a cool, crisp morning, although it was slightly windy, he didn't mind the wind; with it came danger, yes, but also memories, though not all pleasant. Tealtide liked listening to the wind. It would ripple through his fur and into his ear, whispering stories of the places it had been, the wonders it had seen, the things that it knew.
Suddenly the wind picked up, carrying clouds that had gotten tangled in its wake. Rain started to fall, harder and harder, until it soaked through his pelt and chilled him to the bone. Coughing and sputtering as he struggled to see through the raging torrent, he began to sprint back to the camp, not even thinking how the stream would react to all the rainfall..
As quickly as the rain has started, it had finished and the world around him was sparkling green. Tealtide stepped, and weaved, with careful and precise movements, around and under the thick undergrowth scenting for prey. His ears were pricked, eyes alight, and he was all ready to catch something. Anything. He took a deep breath, and caught scent of a small, yet plump, vole, just coming out from under a pile of dew encrusted leaves. He stealthily crept up to it, his wide eyes now focused and narrowed, everything around the vole a wild and crazy blur. The vole was clear, crisp, and sharp in his vision, as his mouth began to water. He took another step forward, praying to Starclan that a wet branch, or twig wouldn't alert the vole of his presence. Mousedung, he thought to himself, as a twig snapped. The vole lifted its head, but Tealtide stayed as still as a statue, waiting for the vole to begin foraging for food again. As it went back to its foraging, the tom took one step closer, and luckily, no twig or branch snapped. He brought himself into a hunters crouch and leaped.
The tom landed behind the vole, his two front paws touching the ground, then his two hind paws. It was almost a silent landing. Almost. The vole had heard his landing, and began to scurry away, and as it was beginning to retreat to the safe haven of the drenched undergrowth, Tealtide flashed out a paw, and swiped the vole back to him. It landed with a quiet thump on the ground, and he could almost feel the tiny pitter-patter of mice, and other prey's paws scurry into the undergrowth for safety. He bit down on the vole, hearing a snap. He smiled, and dug a small hole, covering the vole up with loose soil, leaves, and small twigs.
As the tom wandered around, the now retreating rain, sliding off his pelt, his paw steps light, and graceful, as he looked all over, for other signs of prey, he caught scent of something. He looked up, trying to find where it was coming from. Ah, a squirrel! Although, in his opinion, squirrels tasted horrible, he felt it would be an accomplishment, that he could catch one. It wasn't high up in the tree, only on the second branch up, and it looked like a thick and sturdy branch. It could easily hold him. The tom jumped, climbing up the tree. He was making noise, and he scolded himself, but, the squirrel didn't seem to notice. Tealtide hopped lightly onto the first branch, and looked up. It wasn't a bad height, the first branch to the second, and instead of climbing up the tree, again, he decided he would take a risk, and jump from branch to branch.
As Tealtide readied himself for her jump, the tom hoped that he would make the leap. He knew he was making a mouse-brained decision, but, he really wanted to catch the squirrel. He looked down, and the ground seemed much farther away than it should have looked. He took a big, deep breath, and jumped. He had closed his eyes, as he felt his paws hit the branch above him. He felt like the whole tree was swaying, along with his unsteady body. When he opened his eyes, he realized that the squirrel had retreated to another branch, much, much higher than the one he was on. He decided against climbing, or jumping, for that matter.
He made his way carefully down and hit the ground with a soft thud. He made his way back to his vole, slightly proud but also slightly downtrodden. That didn't affect the bounce in his step, though. The tom had caught something and he was proud of his catch either way. His senses became obtuse as he made his way toward the camp, allowing his pace to be as slow as he allowed it.

Mosspaw The quiet rain and the cat who wondered. It's a windy, rainy day outside. Like any other day in new-leaf it was to be expected. It was the kind of day that most cats would like nothing more to do than to curl up in their dens with a fresh piece of prey and relax or take a nap. The forest was mostly quiet except for the rain falling every now and again. It was a peaceful time even the prey wanted nothing more to do but relax like everyone else. But always they had to be on guard for any and everything. A small figure was moving threw the forest. By the shape of it anything or really any one with eyes could see that it was a cat. But not just any cat. It was Mosspaw, Leafclan's little medicine cat apprentice. What she was doing out on a day like this could have been anyone's guess. But no one would be surprised by the fact. The wind blew and with it the rain started to fall, well it was more of a sprinkle than anything else. Mosspaw being the kind of cat that she was didn't worry about getting a little wet. She actually enjoyed the refreshing feel of the water. The young she cat lifted her nose and took a sniff. The forest smelled so different when it was raining or after a rain. It smelled like it was new.Like the forest had never been touched by anything or anyone. The wind blew once more but this time when it did the rain stopped and all was quiet once more. Mosspaw looked around she was not that far from the camp that she and her clan called home. But she was far enough that it would take a little while to go back. The young apprentice thought with all this rain herbs would be growing out of control. Which was a good thing. She looked around once more and sniffed the air. She smelled something, what was it? Vole! Mosspaw thought to herself. She was out and she could hunt. It had been awhile since she's done so. Being stuck in the medicine cat's den didn't bother her all that much. But staying in there all the time just made her want to rip her fur off. Mosspaw smelled the air once again. it was close. She guessed that it was right in front of her and not that far away. The rain made it hard to hunt smells got washed away and things could easily hide. So Mosspaw thought she might as well hide too. She slowly made her way over to a bush making sure not to make any noise or as little noise as possible. Once behind it she got into a crouched position a hunting crouch that she had learned and she waited. Mosspaw was patient and it did not take long for what she thought was a vole to get close enough to her. The wind blew and with it Mosspaw pounced and what she landed on was not a vole but another cat, Tealtide. _____________________:Out of Character::Word Count: 521:Muse: Fair:Status: Finished:Comments: This is not all that good. So, he was walking his own way slowly when something landed on top of his. From what he could tell, it wasn't an attacker because the force wasn't enough to knock him over. He had lost his balance by then and toppled to the ground. He realized Mosspaw had tumbled off himself and his eyes widened once more. Oh StarClan, what a fool he had been to fall over, it was only Mosspaw, he could have stayed on his paws.
"Oh, Mosspaw I didn't realize it was you," Tealtide apologized and then looked down to his vole. He supposed she smelled the drenched thing. What a nose that she-cat had if she had! That vole had been wet since he had captured it and as he was walking it only became more wet. He looked down at the prey and smiled a little sheepishly. It wasn't either of their fault, but the she-cat could have been a little more aware of what she was catching. Though he supposed he did smell a tad like vole and drenched cat.
"None of your fault, I should have seen you," Tealtide sighed and closed his eyes. He felt completely waterlogged. He didn't really know how long he had been wandering around but his legs felt like water themselves. He realized he probably shouldn't be out much longer or he'd catch a cold. And he didn't want to get sick, Greenleaf was just around the corner! He loved the sun and the rain was just something he would have to endure. And then he sneezed.
'Oh, StarClan,' The tom cursed inwardly to himself and he shook his head, blinking his eyes rapidly. He cleared his throat and looked back to Mosspaw. Maybe she wanted some accompany hunting or back to camp? Wait. Apprentices weren't even allowed out of camp without supervision! The tom narrowed his eyes and raised an eyebrow at the she-cat. Didn't she know that? He was sure she was capable out by herself, but doing something like what she did earlier -- jumping on him, could have cost her life if it was closer to the border.
"Mosspaw, I do not believe you should be out of camp right now," came a firm meow from Tealtide. And then another sneeze. He was going downhill quickly. The tom sniffed and sighed. What did he care? He would just take Mosspaw back to camp with him. Hopefully she wouldn't whine or complain. The tom didn't like to be sick; didn't like to think about being sick. Sickness spread quickly and he didn't like to think about being the one who was sick. His ears flattened to his head as he tried to keep another sneeze inside of him. It didn't work. He sneezed again and it seemed to rattle his head.
"Let's get back to camp, shall we? You shouldn't be out here anyways," the tom meowed. He wanted to hurry and take something for his sneeze. Already his nose felt dry, but there was no coughing, thank StarClan. Maybe it was the pollen? Hopefully. He worried too much about sickness. Normally he was calm when others were sick but he wasn't the biggest fan of being sick himself. And being the deputy made him want to get better even more quickly.

"I'm so sorry Tealtide." Was all Mosspaw could say as she stood up and looked at the tom with lugubrious eyes. What she said was true. She should have know that it was Tealtide and not just a vole. Mosspaw was embarrassed completely and it showed.
" It was completely my fault. I should have known it was you!" She said forcefully. The young apprentice knew that what she did was stupid and she wanted to own up to that and learn from it. Then she heard tealtide sneeze, one sneeze was nothing to worry about. But a few of them could mean a cold. A cold was not a good thing to get but can easily be taken care of.
Mosspaw knew she was not suppose to be out of camp, she snuck out. She did this a lot actually it would be no surprise to anyone." Sorry your right, I shouldn't be out here." Right after she said as much another sneeze came from the warrior next to her. Being a medicine cat's apprentice this worried her a little more than the last one." Are you alright Tealtide?" Mosspaw said in a soothing tone. She was worried about the warriors health. Alright lets go back to camp so I can give you something for that sneeze." She smiled even though she has not done anything yet, she was glad to help. Occ: Super short and bad >.<[/blockquote]

{Ooc} That's quite alright ^~^
The deputy merely sat patiently and listened to the apprentice apologize. "That's qui-qui -" The tom was cut off by another sneeze. He growled in frustration and looked to the ground. He cleared his throat and continued on. "That's quite alright. Were you trying for a hunt?" the tom asked casually. He completely avoided the thought of going back to camp and taking herbs. His whole pelt grew hot. The tom didn't like to be sick or feel sick for that matter.
Ears flattened to his head and he embarrassingly shoot his pelt. "I hope I'm not getting sick..maybe it's the weather?" the tom suggested. He wasn't getting sick and he would make sure of it. He would avoid the topic of being sick at all costs whatsoever. What would others think of the deputy being sick? He didn't like how he felt when he was sick but he also didn't enjoy the fact that he couldn't do all that was needed to help his clan out in every way possible. LeafClan was his main priority seeing as he had no mate and no kits. That would be his clan some day and he needed to work hard for it.
Another sneeze wracked his body. He wanted to scream out 'No!' But that would just sound a tad too weird, right? He shook his head to clear away his blurry eyes. Stupid..everything. When he was sick, he hated everything. He should be getting back to camp but he wanted so badly to just..stay out a little longer. He knew it was bad and he could actually get sick but h, the smell of the medicine cats den was so overpowering! It made him want to sleep as soon as his paws touched the ground after the entrance.
Sighing, the tom lowered his head. He would give up. "Alright," he mumbled glumly. "I suppose I should be getting back to camp to get all fixed up and you should just be getting back to camp..because you shouldn't be out here," he chuckled weakly with a small smile. He wouldn't punish her. She was a medicine cats apprentice. He would want to escape the confines of the medicine cats den as well. Then again, he was a warrior. She was the apprentice to the medicine cat. She had to be able to bear the overpowering scent of her den.
Sneezing. He hated it so, so much. It hurt his insides. The tom inhaled deeply, hoping not to sneeze again. Well, it worked. He didn't sneeze, thankfully. He just wanted to get out of there and quickly. Maybe it was the forest. That could have been it. He was starting to get dizzy just thinking about it. He groaned and shut his eyes. "Let's get back, quickly," he muttered. He pulled himself to his paws and almost forgot his vole. He picked it up in his jaws carefully and stood, waiting for the apprentice to lead the way. Unless she wanted him to lead. He'd feel much better watching over her, though. He didn't want to take any chances.

Mosspaw winced when the deputy sneezed once again. It did sound like he was coming down with a cold and that would not be good. She was not all that worried though she knew that Tealtide was a strong cat and would get better in no time at all."I was really just out for a stroll and I ended up hunting I guess." Mosspaw had been in the medicine cat's den for a week and she thought it would be good for her to get out.She looked up at the gray sky and blinked. She enjoyed helping Jaysong but she was still just an apprentice.
Mosspaw watched as the tom sneezed again and again. He was for sure coming down with what it sounded like to her was a cold. It could easily be taken car of with rest and a little medicine. Mosspaw has watched Jaysong give medicines to warriors a lot and all most all of them acted like kits. She knew that it was not going to be an easy chore, but it would be worth it.
" I suppose your right. Besides Jaysong is probably looking for me anyway." Mosspaw said with little mew. She knew that her mentor could be the nicest of cat sometimes and then he could also be pretty stern, but not mean. " Alright lets go." Mosspaw got up and started to walk in the direction that camp was. She slowly got in front of Tealtide. We should get some juniper leaves on the way back if we can. It will help with your sneeze and when we get back to camp you should get plenty of rest and have something to eat." Mosspaw said sternly. She was acting kinda bossy to the deputy which would probably be a bad decision. The wind blew the satarted agian like it did all those other times. Was the wind telling the rain when to fall, Mosspaw wondered.[/blockquote]
